“New” Pepsi Max ad vs Telecom Argentina ad from 2002. Hmm.

Take a look at the most recent ad for Diet Pepsi Max, and then take a look at the ad right after it, from 2002 for Argentina Telecom. The Telecom spot picked up numerous awards in the States, including a gold at the US One Show advertising awards, so it got quite a bit of exposure. Don’t want to make any horrible accusations, but the similarities are a bit too close for comfort. Well, take a look for yourself. Let’s hope it was just a huge coincidence. Enjoy.     It’s obvious that Pepsi’s advert it’s a “Copy-Paste” from Telecom)
    The Telecom’s advert it’s for me THE advert.
    Expressly perfectly the definition of “communication” on a communications company!! And of course they do it!! because it’s an interactive advert! (you can’t resist to yawning)

    Comunicate es fácil. Tiene otro spot que todavía no encontré y se trata de una mujer que sube a un autobús y se concta visualmente con un pasajero varón. La musica es pretty woman y es excelente. Mejor aún que la del bostezo.

    There is a noticeable difference.
    1) Everyone was yawning simultaneously.
    2) Everyone was yawning one after the other.
    The first one everyone understands, but the second one is about communication. There is a theory that people yawn in response to other people yawning. It was a phenomenon observed by scientists where one person would yawn and some others in the room would yawn afterward for no apparent reason.

    Tiene una calidad permanente…

    Indudablemente la de pepsi es pesima, como todas las de pepsi, mas alla de copiar o no… ya que la idea de bostezo no es la esencia, lo es la direccion y el concepto a plasmar.

    The only similarity is the fact that people were yawning after seeing/hearing another person yawn. Yawning is widely considered to be contagious, so the idea hasn’t been created by either of these adverts.
